Media Center Policies and Procedures
The Media Center regularly provides the following services.  We’re happy to help.
  • Books, newspapers, magazines, and teaching videos (videos are self-service).
  • Reference assistance, interlibrary loan services, database teaching, & orientations.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting computers in the library and throughout the school (please contact us and we will tell the techs if necessary).
  • Audiovisual reservations, delivery, and installation (tv/vcrs/data projectors/screens/ microphones/ speakers).
  • Tape duplication and classroom channel taping
  • Computer lab and mobile lab (middle school only) reservations and delivery
  • Camcorder reservations and delivery (we have 3)
  • Ink cartridge replacement
  • Blank floppy disks
  • Overall technology assistance
For audiovisual reservations, PLEASE give us TWO DAYS notice.  Candy does a wonderful job managing our audiovisual resources and it’s much easier for her when there is enough notice given (exceptions are made for emergency absences).

The photocopiers in the Media Center are for student and teacher use.  However, these are only to be used by teachers for
quick copy tasks.  Any copy task of more than 20 should go to the Copy Center upstairs.  The copy machines upstairs are faster and cheaper to operate than the ones in the Media Center.

The following are policies and protocols for students and classes using the Library:

Lunch Policy (High School):  Students must be in the Media Center by the bell and sign in.  Otherwise they need a pass from us or a teacher.

During Class Use Policy:  Students sent to the Library during class need a pass from a teacher, preferably the Quabbin Regional MS/HS Permission slip.  Having a pass helps us determine if a student is legitimate or not.

Games/MySpace:  Students should not play games on computers in the Media Center or computer labs during regular school hours.   Also, networking sites such as MySpace are blocked and students should not be using them.

Teacher presence:  The administration strongly recommends that while at the Library, teachers should stay with their classes.  Of course, short trips to the classroom or bathroom are fine.  Because of the demands on the time of the Library staff, if left alone, students will not be directly observed and they may get off task.

After School Policy:  On Wednesdays, students need passes from a teacher to go to the Library if the student is from Middle School.  High School students do not need this pass, however, they do need to sign in and out and obtain a pass if they leave for any reason.
